Each shoot for Sloft Magazine should be approached as a "reportage" — a discovery of an apartment. The goal: every reader, whether design-savvy or a casual enthusiast, should understand the full picture of a home, both in its architecture and in the decorative spirit its inhabitants have brought to it. Every space (bedrooms, entrance, bathrooms, WC, etc.) contributes to the narrative as part of an exhaustive visit.
Tech specs
- Photo formats: ⅔ or 3/2
- Images in CMYK
- Wide shots in both HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL orientation to convey the overall sense of volume
- 2 HORIZONTAL MASTER shots of the most important spaces, to allow for 2 double-page spreads per feature
- MANDATORY: A PORTRAIT of the inhabitant(s) — in both PORTRAIT and LANDSCAPE format. Tone: fun, natural, relaxed and cool. Don't hesitate to create a lifestyle/fashion-inspired staging + one or two atmospheric shots of the inhabitants if relevant.
- Close-ups or narrower shots to highlight a detail. Be careful not to multiply "architectural pleasure" type photos which focus on the play of materials/details to the detriment of the overall understanding.
- Two macro shots of materials or textures to enable layout effects in keeping with the subject.
- One or two "artistic", purely graphic shots to create breathing room within the feature. Original ideas welcome!
- MANDATORY: EXTERIOR shots + communal areas — street, neighbourhood, stairwell, landing, views from windows, terrace… to provide context and open up the story.
- 1 VIDEO for digital promotion: 1 slow panoramic shot in VERTICAL format of the main living space (duration: 5 to 10 seconds). E.g. a slow pan across the living room → purpose: teaser material for our social media.
IMPORTANT: Highlight clever optimisations and smart design solutions. E.g. a bathroom/laundry unit with appliances tucked under the sink: shoot it both open and closed to show the concealment and the optimisation at work.
